Our Values

Fareshare is a scheme started in London in the mid 1990's by the homeless charity Crisis.

It has been described as a "triumph of common sense" as it provides a practical solution to two basic problems - supermarkets have surplus fresh food on a daily basis and homeless people do not have access to a healthy and nutritious diet. Following successful evaluation, there is now a network of FareShare projects in the UK.

Peter Taylor owner and Chairman of The Town House Company, has supported FareShare Edinburgh and Lothians from the start in 1999. Peter says,

"FareShare makes such a difference to people's lives. It is just great to see all the fresh food being used so positively and not thrown away. This project is a success and demonstrates so vividly the opportunity for the professional / corporate world to work along with the volunteer / charity sector to make a real difference in our communities."

The Town House Company provides fund raising events throughout the year and in 2005 has made a commitment to raise £20,000.
